City Council & Mayor

The Mayor and City Council constitute the legislative branch of Talent's City government. Comprising six members, each City Councilor is elected via a citywide vote, along with the Mayor. Serving as volunteers, both the Mayor and City Council members hold four-year terms. Their responsibilities encompass setting City policy, making decisions on ordinances and resolutions, authorizing contracts, establishing City goals, and adopting the annual budget. Additionally, they appoint the City Manager and residents to advisory committees and commissions. The Mayor and City Council oversee City staff to ensure the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective services to Talent residents.
