Historic Talent

Historic Town Hall

In 1852, Jacob Wagner, the first recorded settler, arrived in what is now Talent, completing his homestead the following year and naming it "Wagner." The military later established Fort Wagner on his property in 1854, initially as a defense against local Native American tribes. However, as there were no conflicts, the fort became a social and religious hub. The town's name was eventually changed to "Talent" when A.P. Talent platted a townsite in 1889. Talent was officially incorporated on November 2, 1910, and celebrated its Centennial on the same date in 2010.
