Electrical Fire at Town Hall Prompts Closure of Facility

This morning, a small electrical fire broke out in the basement area of Town Hall, located at 206 E. Main Street in Talent. City staff detected smoke emanating from the building and promptly alerted Fire District 5. Upon investigation, it was determined that the fire originated from a basement storage area.

An immediate investigation into the cause of the fire has been initiated, with preliminary findings expected within 48 hours. The incident has resulted in significant smoke damage to the basement and minor damage to the main floor.

As a precautionary measure, the electric service to the building has been shut off, rendering the facility temporarily unusable for public gatherings. Consequently, tonight's City Council Study Session and Regular meeting have been canceled. Further updates regarding the reopening of Town Hall and additional City Council meetings will be available on the city website.
