Election Information
Election season is here! The City Elections Officer can assist candidates with the process of navigating the elections process and getting candidates on the 2026 ballot. City elections are held biennially during the General Election. Forms and information for the City's elections will be available on the City's website during election years.
Important information to remember
- The General Election is scheduled for November 3, 2026 and conducted by the Jackson County Elections Office, learn more HERE
- Positions for consideration will serve a 4 year term starting on January 1, 2027, ending on December 31, 2030 and include the following council positions:
- Mayorship
- Council seat 1
- Council seat 3
- Council seat 5
- Due to resignation, the following seat will also be on the 2026 ballot, however, candidates will serve the remainder of the seat term, ending on December 31, 2028.
- Council seat 2

Candidate packets available with the City Elections Official.

First day to file for candidate vacancies – PLEASE DO NOT GATHER SIGNATURES until your approval letter has been received from the City Elections Official.

| August 11, 2026 |
Last date for Elected Incumbent candidates to file for candidacy.

| August 18, 2026 |
Last Date for non-Incumbent candidates to file for candidacy.
|
| August 18, 2026 |
Deadline for submitting signatures (SEL 338) to City Recorder. After this date, the Jackson County Elections Office may not be able to complete signature verification by the August 25, 2024 verification deadline.

| August 25, 2026 |
Last day to file a candidate statement for inclusion in the Voter's Pamphlet, with the Jackson County Elections Office. A $50.00 fee must be paid to the Jackson County Elections Office.

| August 28, 2026 |
Last day to withdraw candidacy. Contact the City Elections Official either in-person or email by the end of the business day.

| September 8, 2026 |
Elections signs can be placed in Talent city limits. Please review the candidate packet for details on approved elections signage dimensions (TMC 18.120.060).

All candidate elections signs must be removed from within Talent city limits (TMC 18.120.060)

Council adoption of election results
