Floodplain management is a community-based effort to prevent or reduce the risk of flooding, resulting in a more resilient community.
Click here to view the Interactive Floodplain Map. If you are unsure if you are within the floodplain, please contact the Planning Department before submitting plans.
If your lot lies within the Floodway, building is typically prohibited.
If you are building in the Floodplain, your plans will require review by a Floodplain Manager. You will need to submit a Floodplain Management Application and a valid Elevation Certificate. The fee for Floodplain Review is $332.00.
Debris Removal in the Floodplain will also require Floodplain review. This will require a Floodplain Management Application and a site map clearly showing:
-building footprint
-street
-tax lot
-highest and lowest point of elevation
-a temporary storage location

Change Your Flood Zone Designation
If you believe your property was incorrectly identified as a Special Flood Hazard Area (SFHA) by the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), you may submit an application to FEMA for a formal determination of the property's location and/or elevation relative to the SFHA. This is called a Letter of Map Change (LOMC) request.
