POLICE CHIEF SEARCH
The City of Talent, Oregon is seeking an experienced police professional to lead a department of 8 sworn officers and 1 ½ civilian staff.
Talent, located in Southern Oregon’s Rogue Valley, is situated between Medford to the north and Ashland to the south on the I-5 and Highway 99 corridor. It is a growing community with a current population of about 6300.
Talent has a Council-Manager form of government with a Mayor and 6 (six) City Councilors elected at large. The Council appoints the City Manager.
The ideal candidate will lead a department dedicated to providing safety and security to the community through professional policing and open communication with the citizens of Talent. This position is critical to the quality of life in the community. It requires the highest levels of personal integrity and honor and the Chief will be expected to lead by example.
The candidate will have a minimum of 12 years of experience in police work, including seven years of progressively responsible experience as a Police supervisor/administrator and graduation from a four-year college with a Bachelors Degree in law enforcement or a related field. Or: a satisfactory equivalent combination of education, experience, and training, that provides the desirable knowledge, skills and abilities. Current Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training Executive Certification will be required or the ability to obtain the Executive Certificate within one year of date of hire
